A beautiful fall wedding day at Crystal Point Yacht Club set the scene for Cayla and Michael’s celebration. Although the forecast called for rain, the weather held off just long enough for portraits — a huge win! Overall, their day was relaxed, joyful, and filled with meaningful moments from start to finish.
How Cayla & Michael Met
Cayla and Michael first crossed paths during a work charity basketball game — on opposite teams. During the game, Cayla stepped in to guard Michael, and he claimed she fouled him. She quickly reminded him that he would know if she really fouled him. That competitive exchange marked their very first interaction.
After the game, everyone headed out for drinks. It was then that Michael asked Cayla for her number, officially starting their story together.
The Proposal Story
The proposal came on what felt like a completely normal summer evening. The two went out to dinner, something they often did, so Cayla had no idea what was coming. After dinner, they decided to grab drinks at The Crab’s Claw in Lavallette before meeting up with friends.
Once they parked near a street where Michael’s family once owned a home, they began walking toward the bar. At that point, Michael claimed he forgot his phone and wallet and ran back to the car — secretly grabbing the ring. When he caught up, he suggested they head up to the beach instead.
At the top of the beach entrance, overlooking the water, Michael began to speak. He stumbled over his words, and for a brief moment, Cayla thought he might be breaking up with her. Instead, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.
Just then, Cayla’s father and stepmother walked up, while Michael’s parents drove by honking in celebration. Her stepmother captured photos of the moment, and his mom surprised them with a beautifully decorated spread in the trunk of their car to celebrate.
