Last month I met up with Krystyna and Steve at Devine Park in Spring Lake, NJ for their engagement session. Krystyna and Steve had met through mutual friends when Steve had moved from Missouri to New Jersey. They both were introduced at a bbq party where these two bonded over Steve’s new pup, Saber.
FIRST DATE
“For our first date, we went on a hike in northern NJ. At some point during the trail, we got lost. This was before the smartphone era, so we attempted to guide ourselves back to the trailhead based on the sun’s location. Seven hours later, we finally came across two fishermen and discovered we had crossed the state line into upstate New York! They graciously called the park ranger to bring us back to the main campsite, which turned out to be a 45-minute drive away. This was definitely a memorable first date, to say the least! Ha”
THE PROPOSAL
“After a long day of teaching, I came home exhausted and fell into a deep nap. Steve gently woke me up and suggested we take a spontaneous trip to disconnect from technology. As it turned out, he had been planning this weekend getaway for quite some time and strategically arranged it towards the end of a busy month when he knew I could use a much-needed vacation. Little did I know, this “impromptu” trip to a private beach in Newport, RI led to an engagement where Steve asked me to marry him.”
THE RING
“The ring has a classic round solitaire diamond on a pavé band.”
What do you love about it?
“Everything! I wanted an engagement ring that would be timeless and classic. I had been eyeing several cuts that were quite different from one another. All were so beautiful, but the one I loved also felt the most like me.”
THE ONE
“It was after our first date ordeal when I knew he was the one. His sense of calmness and how we worked together towards a solution was a testament to his character and how well we got along as a team in stressful situations. This proved to be true time and time again, especially as we backpacked across Europe.”
Krystyna and Steve will be getting married next July 2022.
